emmzee, Webmaster of dosgames.com here :D (Not to plug my site or anything ...) Anyways, I was replaying Ken's Labyrinth today for the first time in a few years ... and decided I wanted to get into the secret area in Level 1. I finally got 10 coins (using the slot machine) and got to this place with three "Shoot this wall" walls hidden behind weird animated string walls. What's up with that?
I searched Usenet but all I found was 10 year old posts asking the same question ... like here for example:
"I'm stumped-- can anyone tell me how to get past those three walls
on level one which say "shoot me" on them, but are protected by a
"field" of coloured strips and white dots?" (Jun 16 1993, 2:48 pm)

Can anyone tell me?!

This is actually a common question. Most people don't realize that the purple potion allows your bullets to travel through solid walls. It's written in the documentation, but who reads that? : ) Anyway, if you buy the purple potion at the soda machine, you can shoot down those walls. There are 9 coins total to be found on the map. You need 10 coins to open the "pay" door, and 2 more to buy a purple potion at the soda machine. What was the level designer thinking? Perhaps you recall the slot machine? : ) That's the only way to get 12 coins without cheating. I don't want to give away the secret, but I will say this: behind those walls are images of the future.
