DN3D sound under WinXP
- hello there! I am not using Win XP currently (Win98 SE instead) but everytime I've tryed to play DN3D under WinXP the music would not sound that good (it sounds like radio waves interference!). Anyone has notices that too? Any solution available?
thank youuu! - well at least with some higher sampling rates being set in the duke3d.cfg, I also experience a bad sound under both Win98 and XP... so you could try for instance lowering the sample rates to 22 Khz and 8-Bit ?! :P
- You could also try installing and running this before you run any DOS games... it helps a lot in Blood as well ;).
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound
It basically fixes sound problems and oddly enough that fixed 98% of all my slow-down or weirdness in game... give this a shot if you have any other weird sound bugs... - There is also SoundFX 2000 which is suppose to work really well with DOS games under XP. Only drawback is that the program costs about $30.
Re: DN3D sound under WinXP
why not just use jfDuke...? its designed to run on modern OS'es, unlike the original...
if you insist on running the original and have a fast computer, you could try with dosbox (http://dosbox.sf.net)DN3D sound under WinXP
We could to that! :)Re: DN3D sound under WinXP
Yes, yes that would be smart.
