i have a couple of bugs,
in some leves when you toss sticky grenades the game crashes.
game will not laod properly (pretty screen but no mouse or keyboard) with http://www.redcl0ud.com/ xbcd drivers for the joystick, i need to unplug my joystick for it to work.
the mouse movement is jagged or slow when on moving objects (like on the boat in eps. 2)
the game crashes when i use the heart weapon (the one that makes a ghost of low wang).
dunno if this a bug but when in 16bpp mode the key's that are in the doors are now flat.
i have also noticed that when i hit the post in wang's room he gaines health.
there seems to be another bug where you point up and down fast the view seems to stick until you move your mosue slower.

Not a bug. It was a feature in the original and hitting the straw dummy does the same thing.

there is also another bug where you look at the mirror and notice you always have the same image but when firing the imaeg changes and looks wierd.

well, thats more than it does for me... my joystick doesnt seem to have any effect at all on the game. there's not even any mention of the joystick among all the console-output... is joystick even supported on linux?

Joystick on Linux? Haven't gotten that far yet unfortunately, mainly because I forgot about it. Oops. I'll add the support to the SDL layer for next release.

JFSW bugs
I am running windows xp with AOL for broadband and a linksys router using port magic. I have noticed that when I run JFSW, port magic says that SW.EXE is opening a port. Have you ever heard of this?

When the game starts, even in single player, it initialises networking and opens the port used for multiplayer communication. I suppose this technically only ought to happen when starting a multiplayer game and at some stage I'll change it to be that way, but right now it's rather benign and you just get a notification on certain firewalls.

a few bugs I found...
Hi. I found a few bugs while playing Shadow Warrior....
Sounds - some of the monsters make the sound you hear when you hit them instead of their "roaming" sound
"Enter the Wang", 1st level - There is this monitor thingy you can use to to move the car with the silver key on it...well the monitor screen is all messed up, it's like I see myself in the monitor, instead of the car, but the image is all distorted

Damn you JonoF, you should have built with gcc.
I tested with -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing and it worked okay.

my bug report?
I played quite some shadow warrior levels past days, with suprisingly much fun en few bugs, I must say! can't recall any game crashes.
Some bugs I did notice in the game, but did not notice in forums, as far as I can tell..
-Sticky bombs seem not to do damage to enemies, at least in some cases.
I threw dozens of these things towards a ripper: the same enemy just remained alive
until I used another weapon.
-Rail gun shots seem to do very little damage to enemies, at least in some cases.
-8bpp screenmodes are very slow on my machine, unplayable.
-baby rippers can take very little damage, not sure if this is a bug?
Just trying to help out.

As I see it, 8 bpp Polymost is more of an unoptimized test renderer to make sure OpenGL is even working. It's software rendered. Don't use it. The 8 bit classic renderer will run fine, as does the 16/32 bit Polymost renderer.

I am no expert, but I see no choice of renderer? Seems to me 8 bpp is always classic, as the voxel sprites are present? I should also add that any screen mode works fine on my other faster PC....
Mostly my previous post was about some strange weapon damages. Did anyone else notice this?

i dont have a savegame with a railgun, but i just tried a sticky bomb and i used 4 of those before destroying a standard ninja enemy. they do some damage, but the way i remember the game was that standard ninjas used to die with 1 sticky bomb. maybe the railgun bug is related?

Sticky bombs were always innacurate in the original executable, you could indeed kill a coolie with a single explosion and sometimes it would take 2 or 3, I guess that's the way damage inflicted to enemies was coded. The railgun in SW is weaker than it seems (thanks Quake2 for indoctrinating players about it's power  ) but you can still get the best out of it by aming properly, chance you aren't often blessed with, at least on higher difficulty levels.
In my opinion, JFSW doesn't mess with this.
JonoF at
I'll have to check to be sure but the sticky bomb inconsistency could be potentially related to the bug-fixes that prevent the game crashing when people throw the bombs at non-AI'd sprites, ie. suitcases.

The only bugs I've found:
On the first level, when you go to control the remote control car, I get a motion blur and can't' see that wall at all, making it impossible to control the car to retrieve the key.
Also, the right mouse click to open a door appears to be not very sensitive, like I have to click 4 times to open a door.
Great port though :)

This is taken straight from the readme that came with JFSW Port.

Known Issues
Multiplayer is not fully functional yet. An update to this release will be made in the near future to address this.
There are two rendering bugs I am aware of that will be fixed in a subsequent release:
Level 1: the viewscreen to drive the silver key to the collection area malfunctions in GL Polymost giving a hall-of-mirrors effect.
Level 2: in the pool of water at the end of the map which opens up a magic portal showing the next level, the sector-over-sector effect in the view beyond the portal malfunctions giving a shimmering sky area in the view.
Pain sound effects are playing instead of roam sound effects. This is a side-effect of the game being compiled with Visual C, and I haven't found the reason for it happening yet.
As you can tell Jono is well aware of this and it has made me wounder why people ask questions that are all ready noted in the Readme/Releasenotes. Do people not bother to read readme's no more?
Anyway thats my 2 cents. And to fix your problem launch SW in 8bbp or turn off Polymost and the screen will work normaly then just reload it how you had it.

Figured reading the Duke readme was good enough. Thanks for the tip btw.

hall of mirrors...
in the first level, the screen (on which player is supposed to see the movement of the RC car with the silver key) shows only HoM. i had to use noclip cheat to get that key, it was totally unreachable otherwise.
edit: sry, i only searched the forum for "hom" or something, i mean, i couldn't find that bug in any thread... ok now.
