hi. i'm Duducrazy and i'm new here. i installed the High Resolution Pack, but i got a problem. my problem is not with the pack, but with the port. when i run jfduke3d on 800x600x32 w/polymost, i see that in some levels i can't see anything.

Let me guess: SiS video hardware?

LOL you beat me to it Jonathon, as at work my PC has a SIS 650 and I get the same problem.
Now if I can only convince my boss that Windows does not like SIS cards
Btw some ASUS mobos come with S3 cards onboard and they are not much better.
DuduCrazy at
yeah, i have a SiS card. what can i do to solve this problem?
ProAsm at
Lol get something else, anything, even an old Voodoo3 works better than SIS.
I'll fiddle with my one at work tomorrow and see if there is a work around although I doubt it.

Your choices are currently:
Play in 8-bit mode, or
get an Nvidia or ATi card, or basically anything that doesn't have problems with fog
I haven't got access to a machine that exhibits this problem so I'm unable to find and fix it personally.

is there a way to disable the fog?
another note: the problem happens also when using these resolutions:
640x480x32
800x600x32
1024x768x32
in other words, every resolution in 16, 24, and 32 bits.

Ok I played around at work today with these cards:
On my work PC which has an AOpen mobo using a SIS 650 (32 meg) graphics card, it was ok up to 1024 x 768 and it even worked fairly successfully in 32bit Polymost mode.
I then installed the game on a PC running the SIS 6360 card and that was exactly like what you complaining about and no matter what I did I could not get it working correctly, even 640 x 480 sucked.
A third test I did was the Savage S3 (32 meg) and that too was about the same results as the SIS 650, quite satisfactory.
To get the best drivers for the SIS 650 I had to go to the AOpen website as SIS themselves had nothing much.
DuduCrazy at
my graphics card model is
SiS 661FX_760_741_M661FX_M760_M741
according with the windows video properties.

Thats quite a card you have there and should not be giving the problems you are having.
SiS661FX supports the latest 800MHz Front-Side-Bus clock, proving a 6.4GB/s transferring bandwidth, stable high-speed computing function and multiple RAM formats such DDR400/333/266. Immerging SiS' Ultra-AGPII

ok, i'm trying to download the latest drivers, but i'm a lot confused. i don't know how can i do it.
another screenshot showing the problem: at the level 9, episode 3, using the resolution of 800x600x32 in windowed mode, i can't see anything, except when i'm firing a weapon like the Chaingun Cannon btw, could you add a option to remove the fog in the next release? or there's already a way to disable it.

Run notepad, type this into it, save it as "runduke.bat" in the JFDuke3D directory.
set BUILD_NOFOG=1
duke3d %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6

I like the codes...
I can play jfduke3d & jfsw with 16bit or 32bit and no HRP installed, than no any crash issue on my SiS 651 onboard display chip. :)
Thanks about it.
Edit : But can't use any HRP models , it's still crashed on going to game and get a memory error message. :(

Thanks a lot. now i'm not having any issues anymore. now, is there a way to do the same thing you told me in SW?

Do the exact same thing except create the batch file for SW, not Duke. :p
