As far as I know, the only version of Duke bearing the 1.999 version number is mine (reasoning being it's not quite '2' yet).

Is this what it says when you run the original, Vanilla EXE or Jonof's port? If its with the Vanilla (the original) EXE, something is very wrong.

There was a patch for duke atomic, i forgot what version it changed it to though. 1.9 sounds like what it was tho.
Not many people used the patch, atleast not for duke match, which is what i primarily played. I forgot what exactly the patch fixed, i think it was minor bugs or something similar to that affect; Not really anything that affected duke match.
Its possible that your game was produced already updated i suppose. Im not sure how long 3DR continued to produce new copys of duke atomic, but it is feasable that your game was produced after the patch was released and you have the patched version and not the basic 1.5 atomic that was what most people had if they bought the game before the patch was released.
As for the patch itself, im sure its somewhere on the net floating around, but i don't think there is a way to downgrade to 1.5. The main concern would be with dukematch when its finished, having diffrent versions wouldnt allow people to play together, and thats why most people opted to just use the standard 1.5 for dukematch, to avoid uneeded confusion and compatability issues.

Um... According to 3drealms, there is no 1.9... or 1.999. It was probably an unofficial update. Also, are you got the cd from 3drealms? Post a picture of what it looks like, so we can tell if its official.
