I figure I ought to give people an idea of where things stand with the ports. Having been occupied with paying work for a couple of weeks now, I've had a break in the storm to work towards getting some releases out. All the pieces I had intended to have done for the next JFSW release are now complete, and I'm doing some testing to make sure things are ripe, so the next update to JFDuke3D and JFSW are extremely close. Duke hasn't really changed much as all the real work has been going into getting Shadow Warrior up to speed, but some bugs and things that have been causing nuisances for people trying multiplayer have been fixed. Not long to wait now.

I'm extremely excited. I have to say SW was one (if the not the) funnest FPS I've played both Single Player and over Modem. Can't wait for the LAN to work properly. :D

You'll have to wait until multiplayer in SW has even been looked into.

Thanks for the great work JonoF and Ken.
By the way, is JonoF port going to support Windows XP 64 bits Edition perfectly?

There will more than likely never be 64 bit binaries, but the 32 bit ones will work fine.

They will and DO work fine, just don't take advantage of 64 bit goodness...

Does this mean that we wont see any new features at all in JFDuke or just bug fixes?

I think MD3 support they did for the upcoming release is a GREAT feature.

I agree with Roma, but with small exeption - I think No1 feature we need badly is efficient filecaching system.
I'm not sure how difficult to implement it, but without it our (yes, OUR) game more and more reminds me of 600 Mersedes with engine taken from Daewoo Matiz.
More features our community add to it, more textures, more models (and especially multiply skins, constantly changing during the battle moments) plus gore pack, and as a result game becomes jerky as hell in some places (not slow, but jerky - fraps shows up to 400 fps on my system).

The engine enhancements will of course be in Duke, but there aren't any new Duke specific features IIRC.

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. I have no slowdowns ever on duke... or maybe thats coz my system is too 1337 for you :D

You must be exaggerating. Computers weren't even around in 1337 :P

Well, let me put it more clear - I have Athlon 2400, GF6600GT, 512Mb RAM, 80Gb WD - not very advansed system nowdays, but powerful enough to run Thief 3 smoothy.
And with latest hi-res pack from Parkar and Killd a Ton, Duke3D run smoothy as well, BUT:
All the time I keep on adding all new textures and models posted on 3DRealms forum, (and it was quite a lot since latest pack was released!), some of textures from the pack I've replaced by more hi-res textures (In my opinon Parkar sometimes inclined to resize textures too much) , also I have installed new gore-jibs-smoke-water effects pack by Dr.Kill/Hellbound (and all kinds of blood skins )- and it takes a lot of resourse also. After all those addons hrp becomes much heavier as in size as in resourses consumption.
And further we'll go into enhancement process, slowier will be Duike (even on moderately fast computers). Try to do all this and you'll see similar results, I think.

Oo thats sounds nice can I have some links to all that stuff? I'd like to see if it slows me down and also i want some pretty textures and wata fx :D
