As you probably know, Duke Nukem 3D has been port for mac os X recently. The good thing is that we can now install it even from a PC cd game !!!! That's mean that all the files are exactly the sames between the two OS, we just have a different game launcher...
So what?
Ok, here is my question: if I install duke nukem on a PC, then install the HRP pack and bringing back all the files in the mac os x duke nukem package (folder), could it work? Actually I think that we probably just need to add a command line somewhere to launch every thing...
It maybe sounds like a stupid question but as we can use the PC version for installation, with maybe a small effort we could make the HRP usable under mac os X????
thanks for your comments.

On linux it doesn't work, I think that macosx has the same issue...

The HRP won't work with the OS X port of Duke3D that's currently out there because it's based on the Icculus.org port which doesn't have the Polymost renderer. I'm currently porting JFDuke3D to OS X so when the next release comes out, OS X players will be able to use the HRP with the OS X version of JFDuke3D.

well with jfduke3d it works quite good round here, the main problem you might run into is that the current version is packaged in an windoze .exe-installer, but parkar (the hrp maintainer) already said it will also come as plain zip in future releases

i download the HRP, install it on linux/wine and copy maphacks.zip and duke3d_hrp.zip to duke dir and run it with
./duke3d /gduke3d_hrp.zip /gmaphacks.zip
duke3d crashes on pressing enter at "New Game" in main menu. on windows it works great!
mephisto also reports the same problem (cant remember the thread)
would be great to play HRP on linux!!

So far the only thing standing in the way of the first release of the JF- ports for OS X is the completion of my JFAud sound code which is imminent, and integration of it with JFSW which I expect to do soon. I haven't upgraded my Mac Mini to OS X Tiger yet (still using Panther) so I won't be able to produce universal binaries for the new Intel Macs that have come out. It's not long now.

If you get the project finished, I'd be more than happy to take it and make it into a universal binary for you, it's the least I could do.

What I've decided I'll do is when it's almost time to release an official version for OS X I'll order Tiger and upgrade my Mac. Until that time comes I'll save my money.

I too look forward to the end results of this because Mac users will be most pleased even though I'm a PC user.
