Just courious.
Ken,how many hours do you spend on pure exercising the programming art?Do you have some specific hours of the day you prefer to work?
What is the percentage of reading about new programming tricks, thinking about algorithm
sollutions and pure coding?
You say that programming is a hobbie for you not just a job.I understand this as something
like amateur sport training that you spend some hours a day or week in order to feel healthy in the body. Can someone use programming as somekind of spiritual, brain training in order to
feel mentally fit?
You may say why bothering you about this.Just like in sports you're benefit if you study the workout program of professionals even if you plan to stay an amateur.
I like programming but as reading is,it's a solitary task and i don't think it is good idea to spend a huge amount of your free time of a day if you see it just as a hobbie and not
as a professional job.
Myself i like reading about new stuff but i hated in university that i was doing "goal reading"
meaning reading for exams and projects.I hated this kind of "professional studying".Only when i finished my studies i was able to really enjoy (technical) reading.

Emulating my schedule is not going to do you any good. What you need is infinite motivation. I'm pretty much always on my computer when I'm not eating, sleeping, watching TV, or playing some kind of sport. Probably half of my computer time is E-mails, forums, and chat.

When i stay too many hours in front of my computer i have a discomfort feeling in my back.
When i'm debugging any program i might forget to get up from my chair for long-long hours.
Also the noise from the fans is very hard to tolerate after sometime.I also spend most of my time on the net searching or reading programming tutorials.I see this phase of my computer time as the pool of ideas and abroad communication. If i stay too much conected on the net my focus starts to wan as going to the gym and just sitting there talking.
My post was about the creative schedule meaning experimenting with programming ideas.Pure software development.
Software development as a mental training routine for just the joy of the process and the feeling of putting little things together to construct a bigger construction.Just for the stimulation of the brain function..as a body builder stimulates his body with resistance training.Too bad that mind development isn't as visible as muscles. :D
I don't want to emulate your schedule,i was just curious to know.
