Hello Ken, I've just read your license, and I wanted to ask you a question: Is it still legal to make a game using the Build Engine, since it is open sourced? :-\

I wrote the Build Engine license specifically for that source code release. To summarize, if you wish to distribute your game free of charge, all you need to do is include my credit somewhere. If you wish to sell your game for $, then you must make an arrangement with me first.

wait, wait, so I can just pick up your Build engine, make it possible to read giant maps, add mouselook and then just make random spray in ms paint, import it and say, this is great game, download it... ??? I think you could make some limitations, for an example take open Game Maker games, someone in 2006 made a great retro remake of pac-man, posted the source and what do you think that happend? Yes, someone just took his game, changed the logo, menu, pac-man and ghosts and made a completely another game! That is good, but after it were like MILIONS of those terrible things! That isn't even the worst! NOONE now knows what's the original, cuz everyone says that his is the original. Imagine that everyone will make his first game based on your build engine, now where's Ken's one??? :D

Adding mouse looking will be a hell of a lot more difficult than it sounds. Build is basically 2D, but Ken's cunning tricks fool us into believing it is 3D. You can look up/down, but with incorrect perspective. Anyway, Ken has been the famous creator of the Build engine since the dawn of time, nobody is seriously going to believe anyone who says they came up with it first. Ken is not so naive as to give away his ultimate secrets to anyone without some insurance, so I should think his work is safe. :)
Besides, the classic Build engine is no longer going to sell these days. People expect more.

I don't think so, you know, every part of any engine is useable;)
