Can anything be done with this Blood Alpha Source Code?
http://files.deathmask.net/alpha/
The Alpha game and the alpha source code are included in the zip file. I found the passwords for the source zip files in another forum.
password for comm1120.zip & stup1122.zip : jello
password for bsource.zip : elcycer

eduke32 is more close to support Blood, due to the advanced coding plus the upcoming full ROR support for both Polymost and Polymer renderer. it will need though a lot of modification.
But I don't know if duke3dw can be (heavily) modified to fully support Blood.

ROR for the next release eduke32, might have to make a map or two with that. So is anyone working on a mod for Blood?

There are two projects:
Blood TC Crandle to Grave TC

Good, it will be nice to play Blood without Dosbox.

if only the blood 3dfx/glide alpha patch, wasn't that unstable. I could try to make it working with dosbox and glide wrappers. It works under Windows XP, vdmsound, nolfb and dgvoodoo glide wrapper (i think that I used this one), but it is very unstable.
gulikoza is going to release a new version of his dosbox derivative build. it will be based on dosbox 0.73 cvs and it will have better glide support, among other stuff.

I got the alpha to work in dosbox, but no usb support for mouse. And the setup menu is incomplete. Glide Wrapper, funny you should bring that up. I just used it on an old game that has not work since i started using nvidia cards. And it was not all that great on a voodo 3dfx card way back when. Glide wrapper fixed it up, and it works on vista.
You would think by now, someone would have just made a new source port out of it. Something major must be missing from the alpha source.

yeah, the alpha source is unfinished and not very useful.

gulikoza , released the new dosbox derivative build. Not much better than dosbox .73.

I'm curious as to how well the glide version of blood ran in win98?

It worked really Well with a 3dfx card. Then in Windows Me it went to crap.

From what I've seen, the 3DFX patches for SW and Blood don't support voxels, and they force bilinear filtering on the 8-bit art. Ugh. I don't know if that is accurate or not.

I have a computer with win98 and a voodoo 4 card in it. I'll download the stuff I need and try it out just for fun.

For Shadow Warrior at least, all the 3DFX version really did was draw stripes of texture for each column of pixels, much like the software renderer did, only filtered to smooth things out. It wasn't a proper 3D polygon-based render like Polymost or Polymer. And the performance wasn't that great either on my Voodoo2.

I saw a post about the blood source code. Matt Saettler has the source code, but he will not release it without approval. Copy rights or something. Before everybody thought it may have gotten lost. They have finally made contact with a person that works for Monolith. Once he gets an answer from the studioheads of Monolith, the source for Blood may be just around the corner. It may take awhile because Monolith has to get everything approved by Warner Brothers. This is good news, because no one has ever got this close for the last 10 years.

No news. Just the fact that the blood source code is not lost, and may or may not get released. The alpha source is not a completed source, and that makes it useless. The C2G TC for Eduke32 will be the best bet for playing the game Blood once it is released. It will be more of an advanced Tc using, eduke32 code with alot of new code. It will most likely be better than the original game itself. The good old Blood game experience is really something to look forward too. Their is another TC called Blood Tc for Eduke32. This will be a good one as well.
