It doesn't, but something like OOP can be faked. I don't know how, you might want to check out the Lua site(s).

To put it simply, Lua is a scripting language. It can be used by itself but most of the time it is embedded in an application.
The wikipedia's article is a good place for info on Lua. If you want to learn it, I'd highly recommend the book Programming in Lua written by one of the primary Lua developers. It allowed me to learn the language in a short period of time.

It's interpreted, much like the CON language in Duke, but with a bunch more sanity and capability.
